Dunk Elite is proud to announce a new partnership with the NBA and BroadbandTV (BBTV), the largest multi-platform network in the world, in a ground-breaking video project focusing on NBA and NBA culture.
JYD Project, founded by an NBA legend Jerome “JYD” Williams, is a youth empowerment organization based in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1996 the Detroit Pistons selected Williams in the 1st round of the NBA Draft and during his subsequent 9 years in the league Jerome played for four teams – the Pistons, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls and finally the New York Knicks.
The Commentator’s voice from the 1st ever ABA Slam Dunk Contest in 1976 resonates with us today, stronger than ever before. 40 years later we’re proud to solidify dunking as an independent urban sport with creation of the first ever series of professional dunking events, “Dunk Elite Live”, designed to square off the best dunkers on the planet in the most structured format ever assembled.
As soon as we think the season is done our guys are heading where the sun always shines – Smoove just touched down from another successful trip, this time to Rio de Janeiro, Lipek and Jordan are heading to Abu Dhabi, UAE, before Justin, Porter and Lipek travel to LA to take part in another star-packed contest organised by Ball is Life and Eastbay in late October. Basketball really never stops!
Yesterday Dmitry ‘Smoove’ Krivenko revealed his spin on the popular between the legs variation simply referred to as ‘J-Rich’. The creative dunk was featured on Bleacher Report and other media outlets.
Dunk Elite is proud to partner with Point Forward Sports Marketing in New York City to bring the best dunkers in the world to the legendary Rucker and Dyckman Parks this summer. The streetball courts of NYC are the most iconic in the world and we’re delighted with this development to expand our presence in the basketball heart of the United States.
The beautiful thing about basketball is that you don’t need a lot of equipment to get started. A ball, a hoop and some determination are all you really need to learn how to dunk. You don’t need to have the best or the most expensive training gear – some of the most talented athletes in the world got to where they are with nothing more than “wanting it”.
Founded in 1993 K1X ‘Nation of Hoop’ is the basketball brand known for supporting hustling ballers and tireless workers with a clear message – ‘play hard, don’t embarrass our products’.
The list of all-time best dunkers is as hotly debated as the MVP contention or March Brackets – everyone has an opinion and no one is really “wrong”. For starters, what makes a good dunker? Is it in game success, or acrobatic finesse? Is it the gracefulness of suspended air-time or the sheer physicality of a devastating power move?
In preparation for the upcoming summer streetball season the best dunkers in the world will descend on the National Institute of Sport in the capital of Morocco this May for close two weeks of tailored training above the rim.
We know… And if you don’t know, now you know – Dunk Elite athletes raised the bar so high, the NBA players today have a lot of catching up to do before coming close to matching the jaw-dropping contests we’ve put on over the years. To make our point let’s look no further than last year’s Ghetto Games in Riga.
